Hundreds Protest Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline In Kitimat, B.C.

Tyler McCreary - (September 2, 2010 on www.rabbble.ca) - On August 31, 2010, hundreds of northern residents gathered outside the Riverlodge Recreation Centre in Kitimat, British Columbia, voicing their opposition to the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline. Inside, the federal Joint Review Panel held its first public meeting on the project and listened to a litany of complaints and concerns about the proposal.

Afghanistan Crisis Deepens: U.S. Canada and NATO threaten to extend war.

by Tim Kennelly

On March 13, 2008, Canadas Parliament voted to extend the countrys military mission in Afghanistan to July 2011. The motion by the minority Conservative government was supported by the opposition Liberals. The warmakers correctly estimated that fixing an exit date would deflect mounting opposition to the war among the Canadian public and buy time for Canadas continued participation.

Support the humanitarian mission of the Canadian Boat to Gaza
http://www.canadaboatgaza.org)

The time has come to send a Canadian Boat to Gaza this fall, along with other ships heading to the besieged strip from all around the world. But we need your support to make it happen.

The tragic May attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla has only strengthened the resolve of  people from many nations to put together another flotilla to challenge the years-long illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza.  This blockade is enforced by Israel's unlawful attacks on humanitarian aid ships in international waters. The blockade is also sustained by the Canadian government's unconditional support for Israel. It falls upon us, the Canadian people and our schools, unions, community and faith organizations to change this unjust status quo.

Cruise ships using Canada as dumping ground Critics say

By Carmen Chai, Postmedia News
August 21, 2010

Waters off British Columbia are the "toilet bowl of North America" as dozens of cruise ships heading to and from Alaska dump sewage in Canadian waters, environmentalists say.

American regulations have been tightened in the last decade, forcing cruise ships to follow stringent sewage treatment rules before disposing of waste in Alaska or Washington state.

But the vessels have another option: they can unload sewage and grey water -- waste water from showers, sinks and laundry -- into B.C. waters where rules are "lax."

Daring to object: Iraq war resisters, though often veterans themselves, have been met with a cool reception, much different from the draft dodgers of the 1960s

It was the dead of winter when a buddy from Cornell University drove war deserter Dick Cotterill through the Maine-New Brunswick border for a new life of freedom and peace in Canada.

At the border station near St. Stephen, N.B., a Canadian official hassled the young Marine officer but within minutes let him in as a permanent resident, with the papers of a job offer from a beef farm.

That was March 1972, on the eve of Cotterills deployment to the Vietnam War.

David Johnston by accepting this Appointment  as Governor General has compromised himself
Joan Russow PhD Global Compliance Research Project
Either he supports Harpers several acts of contempt of Parliament, and if so he should not be. allowed to be  Governor General  and be in a position to  err as the previous Governor Genera\l did/ or he does not support Harpers past actions of contempt and thus by accepting the position he is compromising himself as a constitutional expert

Voices from Torontoproud to be Canadian eh!
          by Heather Tufts

This global royalty who have more in common with one another than they do with their own citizens and are here really to advance the issues and interest of their class are also here just to advance the status quo that serves the interest of the elite in their own countries,--Maude Barlow, discussing the G20 in July 2010.

Below is a statement that you are being asked to sign. We believe it is urgent to get as many signatures on a call for a public inquiry. We believe it is possible to shift the terms to debate, and to shine a spotlight on the abusive police practices during the G8/G20. But we need your help to do that.

Please sign on and circulate the call widely to friends, colleagues, allies and networks who might be willing to sign.

Canada Day 2010 : 100 Reasons to Not Celebrate

PEJ News - Joan Russow
, Global Compliance Research Project - No amount of gun salutes, military fly-overs, Snow bird formations, fire works explosions, flag wavings, artificial lakes can eclipse what has been really happening in Canada. No amount of nice sounding rhetoric such as in the minority governments 2007 Speech from the Throne, comparing "Canada to the guiding light of the North Star", can prevent Canada from now being perceived as an international pariah of corporatism and militarism and now even a police state. Canada has increasingly become and international rogue state, contributing to war and conflict, to violating human rights, including civil and political rights to denying social justice, and to destroying the environment.
